Salt and art!

My kids make...and yours can too!

We recently did a project called  “Art with Spices”, and it had us thinking about other food related items we could create Art with.
Silas had the idea of using Salt.
And so we did.

The beauty of this project is that it requires only a few items, all of which you probably already have on hand:
Salt. Colored chalk. Paper.  Glue.

Making colored salt is very simple. Pour salt into a zip lock bag and toss in a piece of colored chalk.
Have your kids rub the chalk around in the bag until the salt is the desired color.

Spread glue over a drawing (do not leave globs of glue, try to spread it out evenly).

Then sprinkle the salt over the drawing.
Lay the pictures flat to dry.
{Salt will flake and rub off when you hang them, just to be warned.}

I have a little salt on the floor underneath our hanging masterpieces.
ut, in my mind, the beauty of these “Salt & Art” projects far outweighs the crunch of salt under my feet.

~Happy creating!
